Mountain Gap Books sprang from a simple idea— Appalachian authors need a platform set in Appalachia. We’re an Appalachia-based independent publisher located in the small town of Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee, and the home of the International Storytelling Center. Mountain Gap is still relatively new to the publishing game, but we have our hopes. Our first book, Rhea Wells Boy of Jonesborough was released in January 2018. It’s now 2021, and we’ll be reaching the easy mark of a baker’s dozen Appalachian connected titles this year. We’re slow but steady, and we strive to publish high-quality books at every turn.
